If there was a parallel universe in which mer-creatures and cephalopods enjoyed each others company then I would love to travel there and be part of it (which is odd for someone who doesn’t feel comfortable swimming in the ocean). Meanwhile I have to make do with my imagination, poetry and the odd tentacle toy…
I was going through some old photos and found a picture of an artwork I painted on the bathroom floor of a house I was renting some 20+ years ago. Unfortunately this is the only shot I have so her face is a bit distorted, and there is a stain in the lower right hand corner. The fish running through her fingers reminded me that this was yet another of my interpretations of Cream’s song Tales of Brave Ulysses; some things endure in our erotic imagination.

It took me a moment to discern the image. I see the sea-girl, lovely.

I don’t know if ‘envious’ is exactly the right word, but all I can think to say is that I’m envious of your artistic skills. Really digging the floor art you created, wishing I had those skills and imagination…

Thanks Michael, just wish I had a better picture. My fascination with Japanese erotica meets my passion for mythic themes…

Lovely image and I can understand the fascination with mermaids, they are mystical creatures that inspire thoughts of beauty, power and grace

Thanks Molly, I must hunt out my original drawing, her face looks distorted in this pic. She was much more like an Utamaro woman than is evident here.
And yes indeed, with the emphasis in my mind on the grace and power – my vision of a mermaid is a long way from Ariel! Especially when there are tentacles involved…

Wow – your painting is beautiful. I can see why it popped into your head with the plush and dildo lol x

Thank you! Unfortunately they demolished the house about six months after I moved out, so she’s not still lurking under someones carpet. I wish I had a better pic of her face.

Lovely images! My favorite is that floor painting. It is so creative, and I don’t see things like that anymore (or ever that I can remember).

Thank you. I’m eyeing off my lounge room floor now, wondering if I might paint the floor rather than just polishing the concrete once I pull the carpet up. I did this image a good 20 years ago. I haven’t done anything on this scale recently… But I really loved her, and she was much nicer than the grubby dull floor I painted over – lol. Indie x

Oh, you should definitely paint the floor. I (and I am sure others) would love to see.

I’ll post a belly dancer I did on a wall for a friend. Strangely that house was demolished too. Maybe there’s a warning in that. At least three of the houses I lived in as a student were demolished. At least I own this one…
Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.

You make such a lovely mermaid! Because of the colors, the photo is a little Laura-Palmer-wrapped-in-plasticesque, which I very much enjoy and appreciate!

Thank you – I don’t know Laura Palmer’s work – I’ll have to have a look…

Oh! She’s a character in the TV show Twin Peaks who washes up on a shore dead in the first episode; the whole show revolves around finding her killer. It’s dark and weird and has great quirky characters!

This is going to sound bad, but I’ve never watched it. Now I have a reason to though so thanks!

Oh wow your hair looks beautiful! And you have captured the theme perfectly in this photo! Amazing artwork, I love to draw but have never had any talent when it comes to paint. I hope you still find time to enjoy your talent!

Thanks lovely! I haven’t worked in a while but my studio is sorted now so I’ve just got to find the spark and get on with it… I’m trained as a drawer, painting is self taught and my colour ability is sometimes a bit off – I prefer tone. But I did her when I was an undergrad and I still remember how proud I was of her. Wish I had better pics. I’ve got a drawing somewhere I’ll see if I can locate it and do a follow up post.indie x

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. I bought a cheap fabric mermaids tail a while ago but it was made for a different version of 1x to mine. May have been just as well, I may have drowned (with a smile on my face) in the bathtub…
