No. 6. Hair – variations on a theme

hair

I’ve been having a little nostalgia trip, thinking about the rock musicals that were popular in my youth. The religious ones (Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar) didn’t hold a candle in my mind to the risque pleasure of that icon of naughty words (cunnilingus, masturbation, sodomy, fellatio) – Hair.

Hair, produced in Australia by Harry M. Miller, opened to some controversy in Sydney in 1969, the year after it’s opening on Broadway, and two years after it’s off-Broadway debut… I never did get to see it live, but I still have my vinyl copy of the soundtrack. Unfortunately it’s at the Oasis with the rest of my vinyl collection, so I can’t verify the version I have – none of the youTube offerings sound right.
These are some of the lyrics from the song of the same name. The song seemed appropriate given today’s photograph(s).
Darlin’, give me a head with hair, long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming, steaming, flaxen, waxen
Give me down to there hair, shoulder length or longer
Here, baby, there, momma, everywhere, daddy, daddy
Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it, long as God can grow it, my hair

Regular readers may recall I have a bit of a hair fetish, especially when the hair belongs to a sexy man. However I also love my own hair now that it’s no longer cropped as it was for quite a few years. I especially appreciate it when it dries naturally into curls and ripples. If you enjoy the selfie featured in today’s post you may find these two posts interesting: Mermaids Tale and Fallen Angel/Fiery Devil

Since it’s Wicked Wednesday I’m also giving a shout out to the latest FebPhotoFest image (Day 5.) by @_Masterseye as my response to the Social Media prompt. I’ve often admired Eye’s beautiful hair, and today’s offering posted on both her blog and Twitter provides another glimpse of her tresses (and other fabulous womanly bits). Thanks Eye!

  1. My hair shows well in some photographs, but I find that when I try to focus on my hair intentionally, the photos just don’t work.

Your hair shows beautifully here though. I’m envious. 🙂

  2. After going through chemo where I lost my hair I felt like I was robbed of my femininity which was silly. Now it is growing back and growing back a little curly, which I always wanted. It is great to have something to brush. I can’t wait until it is longer but have to say I can rock a pixie cut length. Your hair is lovely. Good post sweetheart. ❤ ❤ ❤
